The operating principle of a single-screw compressoremploys a pair of intermeshing helical rotors, ingeniously designed as the male and female rotors. Featuring several precisely engineered concave teeth, these rotors rotate in perfect harmony but in opposing directions. Within this meticulous arrangement, the gap between the rotors and the casing is a mere 5 to 10 microns. The main rotor, known as the male rotor, is driven effortlessly by an engine or electric motor, while the counterpart, the female rotor, is powered either by an oil film formed through oil injection or by synchronized gears, all of which ensures an operation free from metal-to-metal contact. As the rotors come into motion, their grooves become filled with gas from the intake port. With continuous rotation, these grooves are sealed by the casing wall to form a compression chamber. Lubricating oil, injected into this chamber, acts to seal, cool, and lubricate. The rotor's persistent rotation reduces the chamber's volume, compressing the gas into an oil-gas mixture, which is then expelled through the exhaust port, completing the cycle of intake, compression, and exhaust flawlessly.
