The operating principle of a single-screw compressoris a marvel of engineering that operates with precision and efficiency. This process is facilitated by a pair of intricately designed helical rotors, known as the male and female rotors, which are meticulously crafted with multiple concave teeth. These rotors rotate in opposing directions with a remarkable precision that maintains only a 5 to 10-micron gap between the rotors and between the casing and rotors. The male rotor, the powerhouse of this system, is typically driven by a robust engine or electric motor. Meanwhile, the female rotor is propelled by a finely tuned oil film, courtesy of oil injection, or by synchronized gears, ensuring a seamless operation devoid of metal-to-metal contact. As the rotors smoothly rotate, gas elegantly fills the rotor grooves at the intake port. The rotor grooves then become a sealed compression chamber, thanks to the casing wall. In a further stroke of engineering brilliance, lubricating oil is introduced into the compression chamber. This oil plays a critical role in sealing, cooling, and lubricating the system. As the rotors continue their synchronized dance, the compression chamber's volume gracefully decreases, transforming the gas into an oil-gas mixture. This mixture is then efficiently expelled through the exhaust port, thus completing the elegant cycle of intake, compression, and exhaust.
