Discover the Ingenious Operating Principle of a Single-Screw CompressorThe marvel of efficiency in a single-screw compressor is achieved through a pair of intermeshing helical rotors, commonly referred to as the male and female rotors. These precisely engineered rotors boast several concave teeth and rotate in opposite directions to create a seamless compression process. The precision gap between the rotors and the casing, a mere 5 to 10 microns, ensures maximum efficiency. The main rotor, also known as the male rotor, is driven by an engine or electric motor. Meanwhile, the female rotor is powered by an oil film formed through oil injection or synchronized gears, ensuring a frictionless operation without metal-to-metal contact. During the operational cycle, the rotor grooves fill with gas as they pass the intake port. With continual rotation, these grooves are encapsulated by the casing wall, forming a compression chamber. Here, lubricating oil is injected to seal, cool, and lubricate the chamber. As the rotors persist in their rotation, the compression chamber's volume diminishes, compressing the gas into a refined oil-gas mixture. This mixture is eventually discharged through the exhaust port, completing a seamless cycle of intake, compression, and exhaust.
