The operating principle of a single-screw compressoris ingeniously realized through a pair of intermeshing helical rotors, often referred to as the male and female rotors. Possessing several intricately designed concave teeth, these rotors rotate in opposite directions with a precision gap of merely 5 to 10 microns. Typically, the main rotor (male) is powered by an engine or electric motor, while the secondary rotor (female) is exquisitely driven either by an oil film formed through oil injection or by synchronized gears, ensuring no metal-to-metal contact during their operation. As the rotors turn, grooves fill with gas upon passing the intake port. These grooves are then sealed off by the casing wall to create a compression chamber. Into this chamber, lubricating oil is injected, playing a pivotal role in sealing, cooling, and lubricating the system. As rotation continues, the compression chamber's volume diminishes, compressing the gas into an oil-gas mixture, which is then discharged via the exhaust port-completing a seamless cycle of intake, compression, and exhaust.
