The operating principle of a single-screw compressoris ingeniously executed through a harmonious dance of two intermeshing helical rotors, affectionately termed as the male and female rotors. These rotors are adorned with a series of concave teeth and perform a perfectly synchronized counter-rotational ballet. The precision gap between the rotors and the casing is an impressive 5 to 10 microns. In this elegantly engineered system, the main rotor (male rotor) is typically powered by an engine or electric motor, while the secondary rotor (female rotor) gracefully follows, propelled by a sophisticated oil film or synchronized gears, ensuring a seamless metal-free contact experience. During operation, the rotor grooves welcome gas through the intake port. As the rotation continues, the rotor grooves are sealed by the casing wall, creating a compression chamber. In this chamber, lubricating oil is introduced, enhancing sealing, cooling, and lubrication. The continuous rotation results in a gradual reduction in the chamber volume, compressing the gas into a refined oil-gas mixture, which is finally expelled through the exhaust port, completing the elegant cycle of intake-compression-exhaust.
